101 News Podcast Season 2 Episode 8

by Ren Slavin August 16, 2024

Welcome back to 101 NEWS, the podcast within a podcast bringing you the latest news and updates from the Marketing world.

So, what’s new for this fortnight?

This week, we will be covering updates from TikTok, Snapchat, Threads and why it’s important to have a blog on your website.

Social Media Updates

TikTok has been doing the most to help support influencers, businesses and content creators, the latest being their marketing guides for SMBs. They have released a playbook on how brands can connect with new customers using the platform!

Snapchat has also surpassed expectations by reaching 11 million paying subscribers with their premium feature, snapchat+. YouTube and LinkedIn Premium currently hold the top two spots of paying users, but Snapchat is slowly catching up!

Threads are now tasting a new ‘topic discovery’ element to help drive engagement within the app. Whilst they want to refrain from people posting about divisive politics and bringing down the positive vibe the app currently advocates, it is slowly adding in more topical and trending engagement options. They are rolling out a blue label above posts related to trending topics within the app, making it easier for users to tap through topical conversations.

Blogging

Blogging may seem a little old-school these days, but it is well worth having on your website… There are so many benefits to having a blog.

Most blogs can be disguised as ‘News’ pages, helping to keep your customers and clients updated with industry and company news, as well as opening up opportunities to consolidate your brand voice and engage your audience.

Blogs also serve an SEO purpose, ensuring your website remains up to date and providing you the opportunity to get some of those keywords on your website to help boost your search engine rankings!

Not only all of this, but it also provides you with an abundance of content that you can use on your socials and link to, encouraging people to venture onto your website.

Blogging doesn’t have to be complicated either… if you’re keen on starting up a blog on your website but you’re not sure where to start, then get in touch!

Meme of the Week

Deadpool get’s top spot for this week’s Meme of the Week. The Deadpool & Wolverine movie release has seen internet users cutting the clip of Deadpool dancing to NSYNC’s ‘Bye Bye Bye’ over relatable captions and funny quotes.

That concludes this week’s roundup! Thanks for tuning in, and make sure you’re subscribed to our podcast so you don’t miss our fortnightly episodes of 101 News.
